About Bahnsteig

v1.1.0

What Bahnsteig is

Bahnsteig is a place for collectors to organise and catalogue their German model railway collections, in any scale.

It has two parts. Bahnsteig Data is a shared catalogue of real German Lokomotiven, Personenwagen and Güterwagen, with every variant they ran in: livery, operator, era and region. My Bahnsteig is your own collection. Each model you own points to an entry in the catalogue, so the history is recorded once and your entries hold only what is yours: the number on the model, its maker, how it is controlled, and where it runs.

From your collection you can build Wagenzüge and Züge, drawn to scale, and set up your layouts with a stage for each era you run them in. The catalogue grows with its users: anyone can suggest a correction or a missing entry for the admins to review.

Feedback and contact

Ideas for new features, missing catalogue content, better German wording, or anything else: send it through the feedback page, or email info@bahnsteig.net.

Support Bahnsteig

Bahnsteig is free to use and built in spare time. If it helps you with your collection, you can help cover the server and keep it growing.

Planned improvements

  • Suggestions everywhere: suggest corrections and additions for Personenwagen, Güterwagen, liveries and the rest of the catalogue, not just Lokomotiven.
  • Operations and scheduling: full timetables, managing Züge and services on your layout, including empty-stock and freight workings.
  • Beyond Germany: potentially extending the catalogue to other European railways and their collections.
  • Regions: better region management, including maps.
